AWK 2017 - Artificial Intelligence in the Internet of Production

More than 1,000 international experts from industry and science met on the 18 – 19 May 2017 at the Aachen machine tool colloquium AWK to exchange on the guiding theme "Internet of Production for agile companies" and to implement concrete solutions for the production of the future. The congress and the accompanying industrial exhibition showed new dimensions of adaptation and agility in production, enabled by internal and external networking.
Aggregated information, which can be captured and processed by intelligent machines and pattern recognition by artificial intelligence in the Internet of Production in real time, represent an indispensable competitive advantage of the high wage country Germany. Prof. Sabina Jeschke, Director of the Cybernetics Lab IMA / ZLW & IfU, presented her expertise in artificial intelligence, deep learning and hypothesis-free learning as an essential prerequisite for successful interaction in production systems in a plenary lecture entitled "Artificial Intelligence in the Internet of Production". Together with Dr. Stefan Hartung, Managing Director of Robert Bosch GmbH (presenting "Bosch - In the transformation to an agile company") and Dr. Jan Mrosik, CEO of the Division Digital Factory Siemens AG (presenting "Digital Enterprise for Discrete Industry"), she discussed the topic "Industry 4.0 & Smart Service – opportunities for production technology " under the chairmanship of Prof. Fritz Klocke, Director of the Tool Machine Laboratory (WZL) World. The Cybernetics Lab and the WZL have a tradition of collaborations in close cooperation, which have led to numerous new impulses and projects.
